Summer Weekend at Big Bear

Hey guys! I got to celebrate my 35th birthday at Big Bear Lake. It was my first time there. I don’t know why I have never made the time to go but I regret not going sooner. Big Bear Lake is filled with amazing views of mountain schemes and rustic cabins surrounded by the lake. Since we went during the summer, no snow was present and unfortunately the drought has hit the lake. I overheard someone saying that last year the lake was filled and today it’s just sad to look at. You literally can see all the boat walkways leading to an empty lake filled with dried up greenery and swampy water. I thought we were able to get in the water but the lake is mainly used for people who want to jet ski, kayak, or boat ride. Check out below some pics I took of the lake.

Nonetheless, the lake still fullfilled the views I was looking for. A small thunderstorm hit while we were there and dark clouds made the views worth it. You can also see the Big Bear Solar Observatory from the lake but unfortunately, it is closed and can only be accessed on certain tour dates. You can click on link to view days/times BBSO Tours.

After experiencing the lake we headed towards our cabin. We reserved our cabin with Big Bear Vacations. Really recommend their services, our cabin was clean and the lake was walking distance.

We had made some stops hoping to get some pics of the views but didn’t really get good shots. Also didn’t get to enter the village, so have to go back and explore that part of Big Bear. We did get to pass by Boulder Bay Park, which was right by our cabin off the CA-18.

unfortunately, the lake here is also affected by the drought. Waters are green but the park is still a cool spot to come check out.

Overall had a really good weekend at Big Bear. I really need to come back in the winter to check out all the snow activites they have. One regret though, was not making time to check out the Alpine slide at Magic Mountain. You can click on the link for information Alpine Slide. Below are a few more pics I took of the scenry.

See you next time Big Bear, I will be returning.
